Jason Rector Named to Institutional Investor's 2021 Rising Star List

SWIB Managing Analyst Jason Rector has been named to Institutional Investor’s 2021 Rising Star list. Jason was one of 12 allocators from across the U.S. in both public and private institutions who are expected to be the next crop of leaders for pensions, endowments, foundations, health care funds, corporate plans, and family offices.

Rector was named a Rising Star for his focus on portfolio construction and risk management. His areas of coverage range from fundamental equities to reinsurance and litigation arbitrage.

“It is an honor to be included in this group of very talented and successful investment professionals,” Rector said. “Being named to this list is not just an individual achievement, it is also a recognition of the innovative and collaborative work being done by the dedicated and experienced staff at SWIB.”

The Institutional Investor editorial team selected the Rising Stars from a pool of talented allocators nominated by their peers and supervisors. Jason and the other Rising Stars will be honored in September during Institutional Investor’s fourth annual Allocator’s Choice Awards in New York City.

This is not the first time Rector has been recognized for his work. Earlier this year, he was named to Chief Investment Officer’s Class of 2021 NextGens. In 2017, he was named a Hedge Fund Rising Star by Institutional Investor and was named to Chief Investment Officer’s Forty Under Forty list.

Rector joined SWIB in 2015, rising to his current role as managing analyst. He works with external managers for hedge funds, long-only fixed-income, and long-only equity. Prior to joining SWIB, he worked as a financial analyst at the Brady Corporation before moving on to work on hedge funds at Mesirow Financial. Jason has a Master of Business Administration from the University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business and a Bachelor of Science degree in finance from Marquette University.
